Without energy there wouldn’t be life. Neither people nor animals or plants can live without energy.
Life and energy belong together. Our modern prosperity is closely linked to advanced technology and high energy consumption.
Without refrigerators, food spoils, without electricity or heat, we could not turn on the radiator or our computers. And without energy could neither ambulance, nor school buses, or news be forwarded.

It can be difficult to distinguish between necessities, conveniences and luxury to. This is dependent on the angle you see it from.
Industrial countries consume clearly the most energy per capita. This high power consumption also leads to a high CO2 emission - as long as we continue using this technology that we know today.

Countries such as China or India are about to catch up to western prosperity. But there is still a long way to go and these countries are will continue their growth for many years. There are also other developing countries that want and need to increase their living standard in the coming years. This will also affect the global energy consumption. The increased energy consumption will impact on our climate - if we do not soon start thinking about sustainable energy sources
